Founded in 1987 by Daniel Johnson, the Texas Early Music Project is dedicated to preserving and advancing the art of Medieval, Renaissance, Baroque, and early Classical music through performance, recordings, and educational outreach.

Thann Scoggin, baritone, enjoys performing a wide variety of music and is equally committed to solo and ensemble endeavors. He has appeared as soloist with numerous ensembles in such diverse concert repertoire as J. S. Bach’s St. John and St. Matthew Passions, Monteverdi’s Selva morale, Telemann’s Der Tod Jesu, Handel’s Messiah, Beethoven’s Mass in C, the Requiems of Fauré, Duruflé, and Brahms, as well as Pärt’s Passio. His operatic repertoire includes the roles of Leporello inDon Giovanni, Don Alfonso in Così fan tutte, Betto inGianni Schicchi, and Reverend Hale in The Crucible by Robert Ward. He has performed with Boston BaroqueHandel and Haydn Society of BostonConspirare, the Dallas Bach Society, and many other ensembles in New England and Texas. He is a founding member of Austin-based ensemble Convergence, which was ensemble-in-residence at the Music Today Festival at the University of Oregon in February 2011. Thann has also appeared on recordings on the Linn, Gothic, Albany and GIA labels. A native of Pampa, Texas, he received bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of North Texas.
