Founded in 1987 by Daniel Johnson, the Texas Early Music Project is dedicated to preserving and advancing the art of Medieval, Renaissance, Baroque, and early Classical music through performance, recordings, and educational outreach. 

Steven Olivares

Steven Olivares, bass

Steven Olivares is an accomplished soloist and chorister, having performed with Animas Music Festival, Austin Lyric Opera, Conspirare, La Follia Austin Baroque, San Antonio Chamber Choir, San Jose Symphony, Santa Fe Desert Chorale, Santa Fe New Music, Santa Fe Pro Musica, Seraphic Fire, Texas Early Music Project, and more. Recent solo performances include David Lang’s Little Match Girl Passion, Uberto in Pergolesi’s La Serva Padrona, Beethoven’s Mass in C, J. S. Bach’s Weihnachts-Oratorium, Orff’s Carmina Burana, Haydn’s Creation, Polyphemus inAcis and Galatea, Jesus in J. S. Bach’s Johannespassion, and Mozart’s Requiem. He holds a Master of Music degree from the University of Texas at Austin.

Steve works full-time as a web developer for Public Strategies, Inc. and is also an instructor of BodyJam and BodyFlow, dance- and yoga-based group fitness classes, respectively.
